Join the e-Consultation on digital agriculture investments and digital transformation in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) invite you to participate  in the “e-Consultation on digital agriculture investments and digital transformation in Sub-Saharan Africa”

The consultation will run from 27th of October 2020 to the 9th of November 2020 and submissions will be accepted both in English and French.

“In an era of digital inclusion, Africa stands to gain exponentially from the adoption of digital technologies towards the realization of SDGs. In the agriculture sector, digital technologies are opening great opportunities to develop solutions and digital market places to connect farmers to markets, improve extension service delivery and productivity in agricultural value chains.”

Members of SusInf_List may take the opportunity not only to sugget state-of-the-art digital technology but also indicate on risks and other aspects that might not be without discussions considering the Agro-Market-driven Economies as such.

Availability of FAIR digital testbeds, thorough semantic and pragmatic (procedural) Models, implementation of interoperability standards etc.

Or: Suggestion of Research programs to address long-term known gaps together with making transparent the causes why still there exists well-known long-term deficits that permanently cause human disasters.

Questions 1 and 2

Q1. What government policies and programmes provide support for businesses in digital agriculture in a particular country? Please include references where possible.

Q2. With reference to the above, what recommendations can be tabled to enhance the performance of these policies and programmes? Kindly justify your recommendation(s) with references where possible.

Do such questions meet the huge deficits?  Maybe use Q2 for rcommendations in the digital Information Management for UN Humanitarian Domains.
